Strategy

The Oxford Green Estate initiative launched in 2025. It brings together the management of several University-owned green spaces around Oxford, with the strategic objectives of:

  • Increasing academic use of the land for research, teaching and outreach
  • Improving land management to increase biodiversity and ecosystem services
  • Enabling greater public enjoyment of our green spaces.

OGE works to make the University's land provide the greatest possible support to the University's academic mission, as well as to support delivery of its sustainability objectives to make its activities carbon neutral and nature positive by 2035.

The OGE team are currently preparing three key strategies:

  • Research
  • Outreach and Education
  • Ecosystem Services

These will be completed by autumn 2026.

All these documents follow the objectives set out in the University's Strategic Plan 2025-30 and Environmental Sustainability Strategy
