Decomposing Poems' by Penny Boxall, with illustrations by Sally Dod. Penny was the 2023-2024 Writer in Residence at Wytham Woods, University of Oxford, working on a sequence of poems about soil, (im)permanence, and layers of history. During her residency she wrote poems designed to decompose in place in the Woods: some were printed on apples, others on biodegradable paper, and others were buried. The poems are collected here in a new pamphlet in the Woodland Words series. 

“ A line is a breathless length” is the collection of poems that emerged from Charlie Lee- Potter`s walks in Wytham Woods as writer in residence. By observing the patterns and timelines of nature, Charlie has created a cast of eccentric characters including a walker surprised by a falling squirrel and a man obsessed by geometry.

Illustrated with Charlie's drawings, the poems' wit and wordplay bring warmth and humanity to these poignant micro-stories.

Part of a series of 5 limited edition, high quality art prints of trees in Wytham Woods. This print of the Broad Oak in April 2018 is embossed and signed by the artist, John Blandy. Blandy's artwork charts the progress of trees through time. Working on site in pastel, he responds to the variable light, moods and weather conditions throughout the year. Jones of the Imperial Forestry Institute at Oxford, complete with a pull-out map of the Wytham Estate in the 18th century, with annotations from the 19th and 20th centuries.
