Chalet and Chalet Gardens bookings
Please note that we cannot currently take bookings for the Chalet and Chalet Gardens due to construction works. We aim to be able to offer these spaces again for bookings by October 2026.
The Wytham Chalet is a hunting lodge in the middle of the Woods and acts as a hub for researchers and visiting groups. Its rooms are available for hire for various events and use - please see below for details regarding the rooms and eligibility criteria.
The building and site are perfect for hosting Away Days, as we are a short drive from Oxford City Centre and yet the Chalet is surrounded by our 1000 acres of woodland. Subject to the time of year and availability of the Wytham Woods researchers, we may be able to arrange group experiences such as tailored guided walks, citizen science activities, or guest lectures and demonstrations.
Previously, groups have enjoyed getting up close to bat boxes (with bats in residence!), face to face with birds, deer, or bees, and learning about mouse biomes from resident researchers.
We can provide contacts of local catering companies, and our modernised Chalet kitchen is also available for all visiting groups to use.
Breeda Mccaffrey, EZOZI had the pleasure of staying in The Chalet on two separate occasions whilst I was working in Wytham Woods. The Chalet is beautifully positioned in the woods. You wake up in the morning to bird song and a sense of calm tranquillity. Inside The Chalet flat you will find everything you need, including a large, well-appointed kitchen, with dining area and a separate cosy sitting room with TV for relaxing after work or after a walk around the Woods. I would highly recommend The Chalet.
I was impressed with the chalet as meeting venue. Obviously the location in the woods is fantastic, and the peace and quiet was most welcome, but the building is also a great venue and something a bit different from the usual meeting spaces. The support from staff, making sure we had everything we needed, was also much appreciated.

Hiring the Wytham Chalet
Facilities include: oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and provision of mugs, plates, bowls and cutlery.
There are two accessible toilets on the ground floor of the Chalet. Due to the nature of the building, we have no fully accessible meeting rooms or bedrooms. We understand accessibility requirements vary, so please do contact us for further information about accessibility of the building.

- All rooms are non-smoking
- Catering not included
- Please note that unless alternative timings are arranged with Wytham Woods staff, residential room bookings run from 2pm until 10am the following morning.

Outside Space Hire
We regret we are unable to accommodate weddings/civil partnership ceremonies or celebrations.
The Hazel Room
The Hazel room is accessible and available to book at a cost of £27 per bench space per day.
The Raymond Room
This seminar room seats up to 25 people lecture-room style, or up to 12 in a boardroom setting. There are flip-top desk tables and a screen to connect your laptop to. Please note that a laptop is not provided.

The Ffennell Bunkrooms
There are two mixed-sex bunkrooms at the Chalet, each with space for 4 people to sleep. These bunks are bookable for shared use, similar to a Youth Hostel.

This room is situated on the first floor. It has a single bed and a study desk.

The Round House
This workspace is situated behind the Chalet. It is a circular building, has electrical points and can be multifunctional. People capacity of 5-8

The Attic Flat
This workspace is situated on the third and second floor of the Chalet. It is split room and bathroom with kitchen and living room on the upper floor. Can be multifunctional for small group projects.

Parachute / Garden area
This outdoor space is situated behind the Chalet, down the slope past the round houses. It is a light shelter, ideal for groups.
